Summary
The Lottery API provided by CollectAPI is a good start for a casual developer. With a limited coverage of lottery games and mediocre customer support, it is better to look at other lottery API providers with a good coverage of games.
We signed up and tested the Lottery API provided by CollectAPI.
Coverage
The Lottery API provided by CollectAPI only supports 9 games – USA Powerball, USA Mega Millions, USA California SuperLotto Plus, EuroMillions and 5 other lottery games in Turkey.
Uptime
CollectAPI has an uptime of 99.9%. As an API provider, this is poor as today’s best-in-class websites have an uptime of 99.99% to 100%.
Ease of Integration
It was very easy to sign up and get started. We were able to easily call the API to retrieve the latest draws for Powerball and Mega Millions in less than 15 minutes. However, there is a need to subscribe to the Lottery API first before making any API requests.
The documentation in the site is clear with sample codes provided in multiple programming languages. The API response is only available in JSON format.
Trust & Continuity
CollectAPI is an API marketplace and the domain was registered 8 years ago in 2018.
The CollectAPI website is well-designed with clear privacy policy and terms of service. With many APIs in CollectAPI , it is likely that CollectAPI will be around for a fairly long time. This is also evident as their domain expiry is in October 2031.
However, the APIs in CollectAPI are provided by other developers and API providers. Hence, we cannot be sure how long the Lottery API will be maintained and continue to be available in CollectAPI.
Pricing & Plans
CollectAPI provides 4 different subscription plans to meet different needs, starting from a Free plan to an Enterprise plan with unlimited usage.
Customer Support
We reached out to CollectAPI via email and we received their response within a day. However, their response was generic and not crystal clear.
